En 1876, Gaultier-Vaudion, meunier et propriétaire de deux moulins sur la commune de Saint Georges sur Cher, demande l'autorisation au Ministre des Travaux Publics de construire un moulin sur la rive gauche du cher canalisé afin d'utiliser la chute du barrage construit en 1840.
L'accord lui fut donné en 1878 et le meunier obtint l'aval de l'ingénieur en chef pour faire fonctionner son moulin en 1883.
Le moulin était apte à développer une puissance de 50 chevaux-vapeur.
En 1888, le moulin fut revendu à Honoré Bourdonneau qui le revendit en 1903 à Octave Farineau. C'est sous la direction de la famille Farineau que le moulin fonctionna jusqu'en 1963.
Cependant il connut une interruption car en Octobre 1940, le moulin brula et ne fut reconstruit qu'en 1947.
Ensuite, il fut propriété de la ville de Romainville en 1967, qui le transforma en centre de vacances et qui aménagea le parc arboré. Il devint en 1983 un hotel restaurant "La Roue à Aube" et en 1988 une maison de retraite "La Résidence des Cèdres".
En Juillet 2005, Isabelle et Alfouine deviennent les nouveaux propriétaires et redonnent son nom d'origine au moulin. Il reste aujourd'hui du moulin d'origine une spectaculaire roue à aube couverte d'une dimension rare.

In 1876 Gaultier-Vaudion, a miller and owner of two mills in the commune of Saint Georges sur Cher asks the Minister of Pubblic Works for the authorisation to build a mill on the left bank of the canalized Cher River, in order to ue the fall of the dam built in 1840.
The agreement was given in 1878 and the miller obtained the approval of the engineer to operate its mill in 1883. The mill was able to develop 50 horsepower.
In 1888 the mill was sold to Honoré Bourdonneau who sold it again n 1903 to Octave Farineau. The mill was in function under the Farineau family until 1963.
It was however burnt in October 1940 and was rebuilt in 1947.
In 1967 the mill became the property of the town of Romainville which transformed it in a holiday place and which realized the wooded park. In 1983 the structure became a hotel-restaurant named “La Roue à Aube” (the water wheel) and in 1988 it became a rest house “La Résidence des Cèdres” (Residence of the cedars).
In July 2005 Isabelle and Alfouine become the new owners and gave the mill its original name. Today only the spectacular water wheel is remaining of the original structure.
